Teaching lessons with technology, manipulatives, or online or paper practice? This session will show how to develop Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) lessons where students get to choose what activities they complete, similar to a menu-based lesson. The lessons can include a wide range of activities, from technology and hands-on manipulatives, to worksheets and online practice problems. The goal of these lessons is to have activities that meet different learning styles, so that regardless of how your students learn, they are all getting the same material. The lessons are also designed to allow the teacher to move around the room and facilitate student learning. We’ve found that these types of lessons get students more invested and interested in learning about the subject matter. Regardless of what subject is being taught, ILP’s are a great way to increase student motivation and ownership in class activities.
