Interactive Word Walls; How to visually scaffold vocabulary

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

This isn't your everyday word wall! Interactive Word Walls incorporate visual representations of scientific vocabulary that many students struggle with, especially English Language Learners. Research has shown a direct correlation between student word knowledge and academic achievement. Interactive Word Walls resemble graphic organizers and are student generated as learners develop the content with guidance from the teacher and their peers.

Given the visual display of vocabulary, students are able to make connections to the information, providing an overview of each lesson and ultimately, an overview of the unit as a whole.
